2023 ~ Lighting Concept
On an early morning run in the cold midwest winter, I was struck by the brisk morning air and blinding sunlight. Seeking comfort, I flicked on my hoodie to shield myself.
Inspired by this motion I thought, “Could this be captured in a light?” I began exploring the concept and how different forms could give the lights different personalities. Ultimately I discovered “Flick!” due to the expressive quality and unique functionality it provided.

Concept Development
Initial exploration began as quick pen & paper sketches. Once I had a few concepts that followed the “hoodie” design, several foam concepts were built for functionality tests. These helped to better convey how the the forms could be used as a task light during concept reviews.
